Role:

Kennedys is looking for a highly motivated Associate OR Senior Associate join our busy Insurance practice in Sydney. The successful candidate will work directly with our esteemed Insurance Partner, Penny Taylor, and wider team of senior lawyers.

Penny has over 15 years' experience in insurance law and dispute resolution and specialises in financial lines insurance, in particular professional indemnity, Directors & Officers and management liability insurance.

The role will include the day-to-day handling and management of complex coverage disputes, as well as offering clear written advice, for our construction, engineering and financial services clients. 

Team:

The Insurance team in Sydney have extensive experience across multiple lines of insurance work, with a particular depth of expertise in professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors' and officers' (D&O), medical malpractice, public and product liability, property and construction, energy, cyber, marine, transport and employment.

Clients:

  • General insurers and reinsurers        
  • Lloyds syndicates
  • Global composites
  • Self-insured PLCs

 

Cases:

  • High value coverage disputes for financial institutions
  • Directors and Officers insurance
  • High value professional liability claims
  • Subrogated recoveries on behalf of insurers

Who we are looking for:

  • 3 + years' relevant defendant experience from a reputable private practice insurance or construction team
  • Strong Australian litigation experience and court knowledge
  • Ability to run with matters autonomously with limited supervision
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Desire to manage & mentor more junior lawyers in the team with file management/progression
  • Methodical and organised approach to file management
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism and integrity; displaying the highest standard of professional ethics.
